Are you looking for some fun and exciting activities for your child over the summer? Join us at Monart School of the Arts; we will have 7 weeks of creativity and fun!

Camps for June, July, and August 2008

Each week will be a different art camp, so you can pick and choose more than one activity. Except for the storytime art camp, each art camp lasts 4 days for 3 hours a day (Monday – Thursday).

In the last years our camps filled up fast. If you want to save a spot, you can pre-register by April 21st and save 10 percent off your tuition.

If you sign up more than one child, take $10.00 off each additional sign-up.

On camp days please pack a snack for your child.

Camp 1: Painting with Acrylics

Ages 6 to 9 and Ages 10 to 16

For the artist who loves to work with the brush and pallet knife. Discover how fun it is to use acrylics on real canvas by completing two paintings. Sign up early, class fills quickly and space is limited.

Camp 2: Arctic Blast

Age 6 to 9 and Ages 10 to 16

Cool down this summer as we visit the north and south poles and discover the incredible beauty and wonder that exists in the coldest places on earth. Polar bears, penguins, snowflakes and Inuits all provide us with inspiration as we explore these breathtaking regions.
Art material used: Oil pastel, watercolor, chalk, marker.

Camp 3: Orient Express

Ages 6 to 9 and Ages 10 to 16

Let's tour Asia and explore the vibrant cultures that abound. Koi, cherry blossoms, Geisha's and Kabuki dancers provide inspiration as we explore watercolor to silk painting.

Camp 4: Medieval Times

Age 6 to 9

Castles, Dragons and Knights oh my! Explore the world of medieval times with a dose of fantasy. Discover some interesting traditions of the era and design your own code of armor.
Art material used: Marker, watercolor, colored pencil, chalk.

Camp 5 : Manga Drawing

Ages 10 to 16

Discover the basics of character design in the distinctive style of Manga. Light/Shadow, perspective, face, hands and body action are covered while drawing different manga characters. Put it all together on the last day and design your own character.
Art material used: Marker.

Camp 6: Rainforest Wonder

Age 6 to 9 and Ages 10 to 16

What a spectacular ecosystem! Monkeys swinging through trees, slithering snakes, amazing butterflies and beautiful flowers are part of our artistic creation!
Art material used: Watercolor, colored pencil, chalk pastel, and more.

Camp 7: Outer Space

Age 6 to 9

3,2,1-blastoff! Let's have great fun exploring the outer limits. Astronauts, rockets, planets and more will be part of our adventure. On the last day build your own rocket!
Art material used: Marker, colored pencil, watercolor, collage material.

Camp 8: Fashion Design

Age 10 to 16

Study the human form and fashion trough the ages. We will discover the art of drawing people in different centuries and master shading to create realism.The class culminates with you as the designer of your own fashion line.
Art material used: Marker, graphite, chalk.

Camp 9: Cartooning Fun

Age 6 to 9

Do you enjoy drawing your favorite cartoon figures? Explore the art of cartooning and even build your own cartoon figure with sculpting clay.
Art material used: Marker, colored pencil, watercolor, and more.

NEW: Storytime Art for the Little Ones

Age 4 to 5

Join us for a fun time as we read a book together and then complete a drawing based on the book. We will experiment with a variety of drawing and painting materials. Our emphasis will be on having fun while exposing these young artists to colors, shapes and letter recognition.
This camp will be offered on three Fridays in June. You have the choice to sign up for all three or pick single dates.

Ages 4 to 5: Friday 6/13;6/20;6/27. 10 AM - 12 PM
$18 per class

Camp Philosohpy

Our summer camps are taught by our qualified staff. Our goal is to teach children how to use art as a positive creative outlet for fun, self-expression and to build self-esteem.

Classes are taught using the Monart method in a non-competitive, peaceful environment. Please call or email if you would like more information or would like to be added to our mailing list. Have a great summer!

Enrollment Information for Summer Camps

Complete registration form, include alternate choices, as camps are limited in size and fill up quickly.Spaces will be filled according to the date registration and tuition are received.
Camp fee is payable with registration.
We cannot hold space without payment.
There is no registration fee for summer camps.
Tuition is refundable only if notification is given by these dates:
- By April 15th –100%, May 15th –50%, June 1st
- no refund given after June 1st, 2008.
We have the right to cancel a class if there is not enough enrollment. There have to be at least 5 children enrolled in a camp for it to be offered.
1st child full class fee, 2nd child $10.00 off, 3rd child $10.00 off the class fee.
If you sign your child up for more than one camp deduct $10.00 off each additional camp.
