Are you looking for some fun and exciting activities for your child over the summer? Join us at Monart School of the Arts; we will have 6 weeks offering 10 different camps full of creativity and fun!

Camps for June and July 2010

Each week will be a different art camp, so you can pick and choose more than one activity. Each art camp lasts 4 days for 3 hours a day (Monday – Thursday).

In the last years our camps filled up fast. If you want to save a spot, you can pre-register by April 21st and save $15.00 off your tuition.

If you sign up more than one child, take $10.00 off each additional sign-up.

On camp days please pack a snack for your child.

Camp 1: Painting with Acrylics

Ages 6 to 9 and Ages 10 and older

Our most popular camp!
For the artist who loves to work with the brush and pallet knife. Discover how fun it is to use acrylics on real canvas by completing two paintings. Sign up early, class fills quickly and space is limited.

Camp 2: Predators on Land

Age 6 to 9

They come in all shapes and sizes. We will learn about the circle of life and the differences between predators. Wild cats, powerful birds and reptiles are just a few interesting animals we will discover.
Art materials used: Watercolor, oil paste, chalk pastel, colored pencil.

Camp 3: Fashion Design

Ages 10 and Older

If you love everything fashionable, this is the class for you. We will study the human form, shading, patterns/ textures and design. At the end of the class you will be able to design your own fashion line.
For returning students we are using all new designs and samples.

Camp 4: Papier Maché Cats

Ages 7 and Older

If you don't mind getting your hands gooey, join us for this fun adventure. Papier Maché is a fun medium and used in many countries around the world. We will create, design and build a life sized cat. The fun part is painting our kitties any way we want. Meow!!

Camp 5: Watercolor Extravaganza

Age 10 to 16

An in-depth class on watercolors. You will learn to master this medium, discover different techniques and create your own amazing masterpiece. We will paint landscapes, flowers, portraits and animals. Join us for this fun adventure!

Camp 6: Flowers and Butterflies

Age 6 to 9

Flowers are not only beautiful, they also attract the most amazing butterflies. We will draw and paint different types of flowers. On the last day we will construct a 3-D butterfly that might even land on one of our flowers.

Camp 7: Still Life

Age 10 to 16

In this class we will set up different compositions using traditional subjects. Flowers, fruits, vases, bottles and more. This is a wonderful class to sharpen your observation skills and advance in your drawing/shading abilities. We will use chalk pastels, colored pencils and watercolors to produce a realistic rendering of our subjects. Fun! Fun! Fun!

Camp 8: Under Water

Age 6 to 9

Orcas, sharks, stingrays and more. We will dive into the ocean to explore these beautiful aquatic animals and see what else we might find in the deep blue. Oil pastel, watercolors and chalk pastel will be used to bring these creatures to life.

Camp 9: Manga

Age 10 to 16

Back by popular demand! You will learn the basics of Manga, how to draw the male and female figure, character development, expression, clothing and more. Returning students are welcome. We have created all new lessons, no repeats!

Camp 10: Dragons

Age 6 to 9

They have been around for centuries; some have wings, some breathe fire and others ice. We will discover many secrets about these mysterious creatures while drawing and painting them using watercolors, colored pencils and more.

Camp Philosohpy

Our summer camps are taught by our qualified staff. Our goal is to teach children how to use art as a positive creative outlet for fun, self-expression and to build self-esteem.

Classes are taught using the Monart method in a non-competitive, peaceful environment. Please call or email if you would like more information or would like to be added to our mailing list. Have a great summer!

Enrollment Information for Summer Camps

Complete registration form, include alternate choices, as camps are limited in size and fill up quickly.Spaces will be filled according to the date registration and tuition are received.
Camp fee is payable with registration.
We cannot hold space without payment.
There is no registration fee for summer camps.
Tuition is refundable only if notification is given by these dates:
- By April 15th –100%, May 15th –50%, June 1st
- no refund given after June 1st, 2010.
We have the right to cancel a class if there is not enough enrollment. There have to be at least 5 children enrolled in a camp for it to be offered.
1st child full class fee, 2nd child $10.00 off, 3rd child $10.00 off the class fee.
If you sign your child up for more than one camp deduct $10.00 off each additional camp.
